The motorcycles are held on to the side of the drum by magnets attached to the wheels. The corresponding magnets are attached to the slightly curved red pieces (shown in the centre of the above photo) which are connected to the large red disc immediately below the drum by means of the thin poles. When power is connected, the drum remains stationary, but the red disc rotates, causing the magnets on the outside to revolve around the drum, and the motorcyles therefore follow.
